A refined late 18th-century French wall textile, measuring approximately 38″ x 25″. Woven in wool with silk accents (and likely cotton backing) circa 1800, it displays a softly-faded floral motif rising from a leafy base, with two birds and a butterfly rendered in ochre, moss, faded coral and blush. Self-edges and original fringe remain at top and bottom, though the piece shows expected age-wear: timeworn fading, edge frays, scattered thinning, a few old repairs and age marks throughout. The reverse reveals a full palette of layered shading and depth characteristic of high-quality French weaving (likely from an Aubusson workshop). Ideal for framing, wall-hanging, or as a decorative drape, the piece carries quiet historic presence and artisan charm.
