The inventory at Gevaudan is never static. We source continuously, turning over our collection with new arrivals every week. This is part of what makes visiting us, in person or online, feel different from most antique shops. There is always something you have not seen before. Always a reason to come back.
Our selection spans furniture, lighting, decorative objects, art, mirrors, textiles, kitchen and dining wares, and carefully chosen new items that share the same sensibility as our antiques. We are drawn to pieces that occupy an interesting intersection: old but not fusty, unusual but not eccentric, beautiful but never predictable.
Furniture and Statement Pieces
We source European and Scandinavian furniture with genuine provenance, pieces that have lived in real homes and bear the marks of real use. Iron-legged tables, painted armor, worn wooden chests, curious side chairs, and occasional pieces that resist easy categorisation. Each furniture piece in our New Preston shop is chosen because it has something to say in a modern room, not as a museum object, but as a living, breathing presence.
Lighting and Lamps
Lighting is one of our specialities. We have a particular fondness for French and European antique lamps, ceramic table lamps, articulated desk lamps, brass table lamps, and pendant fixtures that cast the kind of warm, directional light that modern LED panels can never replicate. A good antique lamp does not just illuminate a room; it transforms the quality of the entire space.
Decorative Objects and Curiosities
This is the heart of what Maison Gevaudan does. Pewter services. Ceramic vessels. Scientific instruments. Wooden boxes. Botanical prints. Taxidermy. Objects that defy easy categorisation but that possess an undeniable gravity. These are the pieces that become the true character of a home, the things guests ask about, the things you stop to look at years after you bought them.
Kitchen, Dining, and Glassware
We carry a beautiful range of kitchen and dining pieces, both antique and newly made, that bring a sense of history and craft to everyday life. French linen tea towels, hand-blown glassware, earthenware crocks, enamelware, and vintage serving pieces that make an ordinary weekday dinner feel like something more deliberate.
Art and Mirrors
Original artwork, antique prints, oil paintings, and mirrors, both gilt-framed antiques and more minimal modern pieces, round out our collection. We look for work that holds up to long acquaintance: things that reveal something new each time you look at them.
Blankets, Pillows, and Textiles
Beautiful textiles, linen throws, wool blankets, and hand-embroidered cushions are one of the easiest and most transformative ways to bring depth and warmth into a home. Our selection prioritises natural materials, honest craftsmanship, and colours that feel like they were pulled from the French countryside.
